Understanding Carousel Templates

A Carousel Template allows businesses to send a series of images or other media in a swipeable, card-style format. This type of template is interactive and allows for rich engagement, ideal for showcasing multiple products or options.

Use Cases

• Product Showcase: "Swipe through our latest collection of products."

• Event Listings: "Check out our upcoming events! Swipe to see more."

• Offer Carousel: "Our latest offers are here! Swipe to view discounts."

Limitations & Considerations

• Requires multiple media elements: Carousel templates need at least two pieces of media (images or videos) to function properly.

• Pre-approval required: As with all templates, this type must be approved by Meta, and it may take a little longer for approval due to the number of media components involved.

• Optimization: Ensure your images or videos are appropriately sized and high-quality for the best presentation in the carousel format.

How to Create a Carousel Template?

Navigate to the Templates page

Click on "Create WhatsApp Template."

Enter template name

Enter the name of the template you wish to create.

Choose type and category

Select the category as "Marketing" and choose the type as "Carousel", and click on "Create."

Carousel template format

• Carousel templates contain message body text (max 1024 characters) and up to 10 carousel cards.

• Each card in the template has

  • an image or video header asset

  • accepted file types: .mp4 within 10MB size, in case of Video Carousel and Accepted file types: JPEG, .JPG,.PNG within 5MB size, in case of Image Carousel

  • Each card body text can have max 160 characters including variable values

  • Up to two buttons (can be a mix of quick reply , phone number , and website buttons)

Add message body

Type some text for the message bubble.

Add carousel cards

Add another card and fill in the required details.

Add Card Header

If you attempt to change the header or button type/order of any card, you will receive a warning that changing this change will be effective for all other cards.

Add variables

Provide the sample values for variables and header and click "Submit" to apply the carousel template for approval.
