WhatsApp Business Account Profile

A WhatsApp Business Account's Profile has multiple components.

Display Name

The Display Name is the official name that appears in conversations for businesses using the WhatsApp Business API. It must meet Meta’s guidelines, including relevance to the registered business name and avoiding special characters or promotional language. Read Meta’s guidelines to get a deeper understanding before deciding on your WhatsApp display name.

Display name verification

When you initially register for WhatsApp Business API, you are required to provide a display name. The display name automatically undergoes a verification based on Meta's display name guidelines. If your display name gets rejected, you need to revisit the display name guidelines and re-submit the new Display Name for verification.

Updating display name via WhatsApp Manager

These steps are done directly on Meta Business Manager.

To update your display name via WhatsApp Manager:

1. Navigate to WhatsApp Manager > Account tools > Phone numbers.

2. Select your business phone number.

3. Click the Profile tab.

4. In the Display name section, click the Edit button and complete the flow.

5. Once you complete the flow, your display name will undergo display name verification again.

Business profile Details

Your business phone number’s business profile provides additional information about your business, such as its address, website, description, etc. You can supply this information when registering your business phone number, or later, via WhatsApp Manager or API.

Viewing or updating your WhatsApp Business Account Profile via WhatsApp Manager

These steps are done directly on Meta Business Manager.

To view or update your business profile via WhatsApp Manager:

1. Navigate to WhatsApp Manager > Account tools > Phone numbers.

2. Select your business phone number.

3. Click the Profile tab to view your current profile.

4. Use the form to set new profile values.

Official Business Account status

Business phone numbers can gain Official Business Account (“OBA”) status. OBA numbers have a blue checkmark beside their name in the contacts view.
