# Template Quality Rating

Every WhatsApp template carries a Quality Rating from Meta, based on usage, customer feedback, and engagement. QuickReply shows this rating directly on your Templates dashboard.

### What is Template Quality Rating?

Quality Rating is Meta's per-template score, based on recent recipient behavior on that specific template — replies, blocks, reports, and read-rates. It updates automatically as WhatsApp collects more usage and feedback data, so new templates start out unrated.

This is different from your account-level Quality Rating, covered in Messaging limits & quality rating. Template-level rating tells you which specific template is losing engagement; account-level rating reflects your WhatsApp Business Account as a whole and determines your daily messaging tier.

### Quality Rating levels

| Rating | Meaning | |
| --------- | --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 🟢 Green | High quality | Little to no negative feedback. Template sends normally. |
| 🟡 Yellow | Medium quality | Negative feedback from multiple users, or low read-rates. May soon be paused or disabled, but can still be sent. |
| 🔴 Red | Low quality | Negative feedback or low read-rates. In danger of being paused or disabled soon; address the issue. Can still be sent. |
| ⚪ Unknown | Quality score pending | Not enough feedback or read-rate data yet. Can be sent. |

#### Where to view Template Quality Ratings

1. Go to Templates in the left sidebar.
2. Check the Quality Rating column in the templates table, alongside Category, Type, Status, and Created At.
3. Hover the ⓘ icon next to a rating for a short explanation (for example, Unknown shows: "This template has not received enough feedback or engagement data yet.").

### What happens when a rating drops

A dropping Quality Rating affects how Meta paces delivery of that template, and can eventually lead to it being paused or disabled if the negative feedback continues. Use Sync Templates option to pull the latest status from Meta into your dashboard whenever this happens.

If you use[ Template Variants](https://docs.quickreply.ai/product-modules/templates/whatsapp-templates/template-variants/overview), an approved alternate variant can provide a fallback when the primary template becomes unavailable.

### FAQs

Q: Why does my new template show "Unknown" instead of a color?\
A: Meta needs a minimum amount of delivery and engagement data before it can assign a rating. This is normal for new or low-volume templates and isn't something you need to fix.

Q: Can a template still be sent if it's Yellow or Red?\
A: Yes. Yellow and Red both mean the template can still be sent, they're a warning that engagement is declining, not a block. Only if Meta actually pauses or disables the template can it no longer be sent.

Q: Can I manually refresh a template's Quality Rating?\
A: Quality Rating is calculated by Meta, not QuickReply, and updates on their schedule. You can pull the latest status into your dashboard using Sync Templates
