Create Basic Text Message Template

A Basic Text Message is the simplest RCS template — plain text with optional personalization and trackable links. It's the only message type available to all three agent types, including OTP agents.

Step 1 — Start a New Template

Go to Templates > RCS and click + Create RCS Template. Enter a template name, select your RBM Agent, and choose Basic Text Message as the message type.

Step 2 — Write the Message Body

Enter your message in the Body field (required, up to 3,072 characters).

While writing, you can:

  • Insert emojis using the emoji picker at the bottom of the field.

  • Add variables by clicking { } Add variable. Variables ({{1}}, {{2}}, …) are placeholders filled per recipient when the message is sent — for example: Hi {{1}}! Our new Butter Almond Croissant is here — flaky layers, toasted almond slivers, and a soft custard heart. Available this week only at all branches. Here, {{1}} will be replaced with each recipient's name.

  • Include links in the body text. With Body Link Tracking enabled (default), every click on those links is tracked. Disabling this feature will result in no tracking of the link clicks.

Step 3 — Review and Submit

Check the live preview, then submit the template. You'll see the confirmation "Congrats! RCS template submitted for approval." — the template now shows a Pending status until reviewed. See Template Statuses.

Best for: OTPs, simple order/payment notifications, and short announcements. If you need images or buttons, use a Single Rich Card instead.
