# Google Sheet Integration in Journeys

Connect Google Sheets with QuickReply to automatically add or update data from your Journeys in an existing Google Sheet.

With the Update Google Sheet node, you can select a connected spreadsheet, choose a Sheet Tab, map Journey data to the sheet columns, and decide whether to update an existing row or add a new row.\
\
\
**Prerequisites:**&#x20;

* The spreadsheet you want to use already exists in your Google Drive.
* You have access to the Google account you want to connect.
* The spreadsheet has been connected to QuickReply from Settings → Integrations → Google Spreadsheet → Connected Files.
* The Sheet Tab you want to use has a header row.

Note: The spreadsheet must be connected to QuickReply before you can use it in a Journey Builder

\
**Step By Step Process:**\
\

### How to use Google Sheet in Journeys?

Select the spreadsheet you want to update.

You can choose a file from the Connected Files (files already connected and used in QuickReply).

Steps:

1. Select the required spreadsheet.
2. Use Search to find a specific file, if needed.
3. Click View to verify the file.
4. Click Save & Continue.

![](https://1325107618-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FePPO97Ju334NhhCzTEZP%2Fuploads%2FfDUncuoh8BKkxZ150V25%2Funknown.png?alt=media\&token=15453da9-3cc8-4205-b2bf-5d3ce335032e)

### 2. Map Sheet Columns

After selecting the spreadsheet, choose the Sheet Tab where you want to add or update data. QuickReply detects the columns from the selected tab's header row and makes them available for mapping.

For each column, you can either:

* Enter free text for a fixed value, or
* Click Add dynamic value to insert data from your QuickReply workflow.

For dynamic values, select the Source and Field Name, then click Add.

Example:

Steps

1. Open the Sheet Tab dropdown and select the required tab.

![](https://1325107618-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FePPO97Ju334NhhCzTEZP%2Fuploads%2FWb26LdQ2y71GDwpSkc5R%2Funknown.png?alt=media\&token=bd86aaad-a065-40e8-af6e-e24a4c3d0084)

2. Click on add dynamic value, then select the source and field name and click add.

![](https://1325107618-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FePPO97Ju334NhhCzTEZP%2Fuploads%2F7DPfFUT7hvOf6Xo5qxE5%2Funknown.png?alt=media\&token=659639c4-50c2-4f48-91ad-a972b6542b86)

3. Map each sheet column to the relevant variable, then click on Save & Continue.

![](https://1325107618-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FePPO97Ju334NhhCzTEZP%2Fuploads%2FVSIUeBPFt98cpqMGranL%2Funknown.png?alt=media\&token=c6191909-897e-43a8-b86a-e63ae4fbcfc1)

QuickReply supports variables from:

●     Customer attributes

●     Profile attributes

●     Tags

●     Order details

●     Conversation details

●     Journey/event variables

●     Custom or static values

For example:

| Google Sheet Column | QuickReply Variable |
| ------------------- | ------------------- |
| Name                | {{name}}            |
| Phone               | {{phone}}           |
| Order ID            | {{order\_id}}       |
| Lead Stage          | {{lead\_stage}}     |

Note: The selected Sheet Tab must have a header row. If a header is not detected, select a tab with valid headers before continuing.

### 3. Choose Duplicate Handling

Choose how QuickReply should handle data that may already exist in the sheet.

Update Existing Row

Select Update Existing Row to update an existing record instead of creating a new row.

You must select a Key Column. The Key Column is used to identify the record that should be updated.

You can use values such as:

●     Phone number

●     Email

●     Order ID

●     Customer ID

Choose a column with a unique and consistent value that can identify the record.

![](https://1325107618-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FePPO97Ju334NhhCzTEZP%2Fuploads%2FkFdXZ5hDqMuGDSICGKT9%2Funknown.png?alt=media\&token=616ad93c-5dcf-462a-a0fd-198a2ced44ba)

Always Add New Row

Select Always Add New Row when you want every Journey execution to create a new row.

A Key Column is not required for this option.

### 4. Test and Save

Before saving the node, review the configuration and send a test row.

The configuration summary includes the selected file, Sheet Tab, column mappings, duplicate handling method, and Key Column when applicable.

Steps

1. Click Send Test Row.

2. Open the selected Google Sheet.

![](https://1325107618-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FePPO97Ju334NhhCzTEZP%2Fuploads%2FvS1AHyK7N6K8ywxhbyVt%2Funknown.png?alt=media\&token=089e6528-2074-4ca8-997d-babb43ca57e9)

2. Open the selected Sheet Tab.
3. Verify that the test data appears in the expected columns.
4. Save the configuration.

Once saved, the Update Google Sheet node appears as a configured node in your Journey.\ <br>

## Troubleshooting:&#x20;

<details>

<summary>No Google Sheet is available?</summary>

Make sure the required spreadsheet has been connected from Settings → Integrations → Google Spreadsheet.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I can't connect a new Sheet?</summary>

If you're a Member, ask an Account Owner or Admin to connect the Google Sheet. Members can use files that have already been connected.&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>No header is detected?</summary>

Select a Sheet Tab that contains a valid header row. QuickReply uses the header row to identify the columns available for mapping.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I can't continue with Update Existing Row?</summary>

Select a Key Column. It is required when Update Existing Row is selected.

</details>

<details>

<summary>My Sheet or Sheet Tab is no longer available?</summary>

Check that the Sheet still exists, the selected tab has not been deleted, and your Google access is still valid. Also review your column mappings if the sheet structure has changed.

</details>
