# 🚫 Error: Too many requests

#### Error: Too many requests

When sending an RCS message, you may occasionally encounter the error “Too many requests.”

This error indicates that the RCS service has received requests at a rate that exceeds an applicable request limit.

### What Does This Error Mean?

RCS for Business APIs apply limits to the number of requests that can be made within a given period.

When the applicable request rate or quota is exceeded, the service can reject additional requests until the request volume falls back within the allowed limit.

Google recommends using retry and backoff mechanisms when requests are rate-limited rather than repeatedly sending requests immediately.

### Why This Error Happens

The error can occur when:

* A large number of requests are made within a short period.
* Requests are sent in a burst instead of being distributed over time.
* Repeated requests are made while previous requests are already being processed.
* An applicable RCS API request limit has been exceeded.

### How to Handle This Error

If this error occurs:

1. Avoid repeatedly retrying the request immediately.
2. Allow some time before retrying the request.
3. Distribute requests over time instead of sending them in large bursts.
4. If the error continues to occur, contact QuickReply Support for assistance.

For automated request handling, Google recommends exponential backoff, where the wait time between retries increases after each unsuccessful attempt.
